January-February
2000 : This contest is CLOSED
The January-February 2000 contest featured a brand new Mattel
action pack featuring the Mars Polar Lander and Mars Climate
Orbiter. OK, OK, we know that they both resulted in unsuccessful
missions, but you've got to take the bad with the good. Hey,
these things are collectors items. We've even heard that they
are going for over $50 on eBay.

The
correct answer: |
Meteor
- a natural solar-system object, which can be made of either
stone or iron, that enters the Earth's atmosphere and burns
up before reaching the surface is called a "meteor".
Don't confuse this term with "meteorite" which is
what the object would be called if it actually did reach the
surface. Meteors can be left over from comets or fragments of
asteroids. Several meteor showers occur thoughout the year including
the Leonids and Perseids to name two. |
